Meet Alexander Rohring, New Media Marketing Student

Hi there–nice to meet you! I’m Xander, a 20-year-old studying New Media Marketing at Rochester Institute of Technology, originally from Victor, NY. I’m a hard-working, problem-solving student with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations, returning to RIT in the fall to complete a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in project management.

My areas of interest include content marketing strategy & generation, social media marketing, copywriting, advertising strategy, and search engine optimization. I have experience working on these types of projects at my work on campus as the social media manager for the RIT Honors Program and at my co-op this past summer working on marketing for Poseidon Systems, a local engineering firm. These have both been rewarding experiences that have helped me develop my skills as a marketer and young professional.

At RIT, I have been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an internationally recognized honors society for AACSB accredited business schools. Additionally, this year I was honored to receive the Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar award that celebrates the top 1% of undergraduate students at RIT who are able to maintain a high standard of academic excellence while also giving back to their community through civic or volunteer work, conducting research, or being engaged in a co-op or work in their field of study.

Gigi Ye – Designer & Marketer

Hello there, my name is Gigi Ye! I am a student at RIT, expected to graduate in May 2021, pursuing a bachelors in Industrial Design and a minor in Business Marketing.

I am originally from Queens, NYC but I look forward to relocating to where the jobs and experiences take me. At RIT, I have worked for FMS Special Events and the Library Archives. These on campus jobs have taught me good customer service skills, processing and organizing materials, and many other tools on the backend of websites.

Now, Industrial Design and Marketing may seem like two very separate occupations, but they actually go hand-in-hand. Through the business courses I have taken, I have learned how to start-up a business, create campaigns and websites, and optimize trends and social media to get people excited about the latest products/services.

My most recent industrial design co-op with Procter & Gamble has provided me with the opportunity to work alongside many professionals in various fields and skills sets. I learned to conduct research and lead user interviews to justify and improve upon my concepts and methods. My design work helped bring ideas to life through storyboarding and illustrations.

In the near future, I hope to continue to improve myself and grow as a designer and an individual. Feel free to check out my resume and portfolio site below!

Noah the Sharp-eyed Digital Marketer!

Greetings, and welcome to this! Noah D. Blankenship is the name I proudly sport. With my Deaf eyes, I regard myself as a sharp-eyed digital marketer with versatile successes. I arrived at Rochester Institute of Technology in Fall 2015, with no idea what I wanted to pursue. I started as an accounting major in Spring 2016, which ended after my first and last accounting internship. I realized that I was too much of a “people person” to stay in a cubicle for hours a week.

Following that internship, I studied abroad in Zagreb, Croatia, for four months. There, I had many adventures with my study abroad group, and I realized that a Business Management major would be a better fit for me. I did not declare my minor until my second to last semester in my undergraduate studies. Advertising and Public Relations were something that drew my attention in the last year of undergraduate studies, leading my decision to continue my studies with an MBA in Digital Marketing.

During the summer before my start of MBA studies, I worked at Prudential as a Product Management Intern in their newly found accessibility technology project. I spoke on the panel at the VOICE Summit during summer 2019, representing Prudential, and talked about my experience with accessibility technology.

Fast-forward to the Fall 2020 semester, I am in my last semester of MBA studies, figuring out what I plan to do next. I invite you to learn more about my other achievements and involvements at and outside of RIT.

Luke Labuski

Lucas Labuski-MBA Student

By Lucas Labuski

Hello, my name is Lucas Labuski, but most people call me Luke. I am originally from Horseheads, New York, but have recently relocated to Rochester. I am currently in my final semester of my Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at RIT. I received my undergraduate degree in Accounting from Keuka College. During my time at Keuka, I was a four year captain on the golf team, a member of three Honor Societies, an Admissions Ambassador, and also the Founding President of the Keuka College Investment Club, which I was able to grow from 4 members to over 35, as well as secured over $5,000 from outside investors to allow the club to start trading. Upon my graduation this fall, I hope to work as a Certified Financial Planner or a Portfolio Trader for ETFs for a major competitor of the industry. Most of my personal trading experience has come in the form of ETFs, mainly leveraged ETFs. During my senior year at Keuka, I placed 17th out of 1,000 students from across the globe in the ETFG Global Portfolio Challenge. Last fall I once again competed in the ETFG Global Portfolio Challenge and placed 3rd out of 1,000, and also led the competition for four out of the ten weeks. My strategy for both competitions is very similar to my strategy that I use in my personal investments, which tends to favor technology and biotech ETFs. Tommy Kane

Tommy Kane- He’s Got Game!

Hello.

My name is Tommy Kane and I am a first-year Graduate student at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I received my undergraduate degree in Management from the same school in 2019. I am originally from Syracuse, New York. I have two jobs on campus, and both of them involve sports. I am a statstician for the Athletics Department, which means that I assist the Sports Information Director during the games by recording statistics for the Athletics website. Also, I work for WITR 89.7 on a radio talkshow about the hockey team here at RIT. The pre and post-game show is called Tiger Tailgate and I use my expertise to talk about the upcoming games and about the prior games. I enjoy this because it is fun to do and there is always something different when it comes to hockey. This past summer, I worked at a cold storage logistics company called Americold Logistics, where I was a Operations Intern. I was tasked with developing a program, called Direct Put Away, that would tell the forklift operators where to put the inbound freight. This was a fun experience for me because I got to see how a real-world business operates and what the dynamics are.

Now, you know just a little more about me!

Through Reporter — RIT’s only fully student-run magazine — Kasey has consistently published journalistic content with real impact to the RIT community, whether they be students, faculty, staff or alumni. He has risen to become the Editor in Chief of the organization, managing a 100-person staff and a budget in excess of $150,000.

Adrianna Wellin

Adrianna Wellin, RIT MBA Candidate

Hi there, my name is Adrianna Wellin and I’m from Churchville, NY. I just recently completed my bachelor’s degree in New Media Marketing at the Rochester Institute of Technology in May of 2020. I am now pursuing my MBA, also at RIT, with a concentration in Digital Marketing.

Over the course of my undergraduate degree I completed two co-ops. The first, as an undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Neil Hair, Director of RIT’s Innovative Learning Institute. In this position I designed a qualitative research study to identify critical attributes of website quality including design, functionality, and usability. My second co-op I completed at Dixon Schwabl Advertising as a New Business Intern where I worked on an integrated marketing strategy for a non-profit client account utilizing re-branded social media, public relations tactics, and future digital media investment opportunities. Although I learned a lot from both positions, they weren’t exactly the right fit for me.

Through my experience as a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a co-ed professional business fraternity which I joined my sophomore year of college, I learned I have a much larger passion for helping create an impact on the community and building strong, lasting relationships. Even when I was younger, I’ve always believed that an individual’s ability to influence those around them and spark change is extremely powerful. Therefore, creating a lasting impact on the community around you, in my opinion, is the most valuable way to spend your life. That’s my dream job and in the future I hope to find a position that allows me to make a larger impact.
